Day 1 - Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving friends and family!! We spent the day seeing familiar sites and enjoying awesome moments with friends still in Beijing.

When we stepped off the plane it felt familiar and comfortable (with the exception of Mitchell feeling a bit "sea" sick). We know the Beijing airport, the procedures and oddities traveling to China brings. We tried to enjoy every moment and appreciate the things that drove us mad at one time or another.

We arranged a GL8 navy blue "minibus" taxi to take us to our hotel, just for old time sake and set off in the Airport Expressway. Confirming the fact that we believe Beijing has the worst traffic in the world. After more than an hour in the car, we made it to our hotel. we checked in, refreshed a bit and then heading to find another taxi to head to Shunyi.

FYI, it's freezing here and there is even snow on the ground!!

We got to meet our sweet friends Joy and Grant at one of our favorite eateries that we frequented on at least a bi-weekly basis...Avocado Tree. Perfect spot for a Thanksgiving lunch. 😊

After that we headed to ISB, quite possibly the best school in the world and definitely our favorite. It was so wonderful to walk the halls, see familiar faces and give out lots and lots of hugs. We enjoyed every minute!

Then we headed to another favorite spot, Jamaica Blue. This is a place I frequented on a regular basis with some of my very best friends. The coffee is delicious and it definitely didn't disappoint today!!

We ended the night with dinner with one of the people who made our time in China so sweet. Our dear Ayi, Xiao Guo. We learned she has started working for a friend of mine and is happy once again. She has such a sweet soul and took care of and loved my kiddos so much. I am so thankful hat she has found a loving family again who will take care of her!

We took her to Treescape, a yummy Yunnan restaurant we live in Europlaza. It is not quite turkey, but we were thankful just the same.

We ended the night back in our hotel, enjoying some quiet time. We even had to wear our Chinese hotel slippers. When in China, why not?! 😊
