The kids amaze me every day...
I have been thinking a lot about the last bit of money we need to come up with, raise, etc. for the final parts of the adoption. Scouring the internet for other adoption sites, I came across one that had created a puzzle and used it as a fundraiser. They made a personalized 1,000 piece puzzle for their son they were adopting from China. For every person who donated $10 they would write their name on the back of the puzzle piece. What a great present for the child and a way to show him who had supported and helped bring him home!
On a whim I decided to try it and see if I could create a puzzle as well. With a fantastic website, http://www.tagxedo.com/, I was able to make a beautiful word collage for Priscilla.
Adeline helped me work on the collage and while we were doing it I told her the idea of the puzzle. She thought it was a great idea and a little while later, accompanied by Henry, they brought all of their savings to me. They said "the money doesn't matter to us. The things we were saving for aren't really that important right now. The only thing that matters is bringing our sister home". I was moved by their love and willingness to give us all of their money. I told them I was truly touched, but it was their money and they didn't need to give it to us. Both of them insisted and said they wanted to use it only for Priscilla because she needs to be home.
After this moment I realized that maybe it was OK to give others an opportunity to help us. There may be more of our friends and family who want to be a part of Priscilla's story and help bring her home. Mitchell and I aren't very good at asking for help, especially when it comes to monetary help. However, we decided we'd make a website to give people a chance to help with donations and prayers.
