T’was the night before Christmas and all through the house,

Not a creature was stirring, especially not me because I’m bone tired.

I chose to go shopping yesterday, what a huge mistake,

The crowds and grumpy people, my next presents I will make.

The kids are all tucked in, Santa’s cookie plate laden,

Still a play-kitchen in the basement to set up, from Colorado, not yet played in.

We told the kids goodnight, and before 8 they cannot wake,

I hope they last that long, for cinnamon rolls I still need to make.

Santa’s on his way, Truman makes us check always Google’s app,

We best get to bed soon, only a few more presents to wrap.

We miss our family dearly, especially this time of year,

But we do our “family thing” and try to show all our Christmas cheer.
