Chicken Coop - Day 4, 5, 6, 7 ... I lost count.
So, the work on the infamous chicken coop has continued. When we last left our brave band of agricultural heroes, they were fighting against an unknown delivery date for the 18 hens, as well as shortening hours of sunlight per day in which to build the coop.
Two major developments have happened since then:
1. There was a misunderstanding. The hens were never ordered.
2. You. Cannot. Buy. A. Stupid. 4x8. Sheet. Of Plywood. Here. I wish I were kidding.
We have been working on the chicken coop non-stop; nearly every weekend and holiday is consumed with construction, or trips to the hardware store. Needless to say, the family's patience is wearing thin, and my own enthusiasm for this particular project is waning.
If we had access to some basic supplies (like the aforementioned sheets of plywood) the construction process would've gone much quicker. However, it was never going to take the 4-5 days I estimated. As they say, you tend to overestimate what you can accomplish in the short-term, and this was especially true in the case of the chicken coop.
I think we'll get the birds over Christmas.
